It's Not Just This Poet
It's not just this poet
Who warns of Donald Trump
Far from it
Far greater voices are warning
Of the match that is being lit
Time magazine came out
Publishing an interview
The reporter wanted to know
What an elected Trump would do
The reporter asked our former president
Who wants to be president again
About all the former cabinet officers
Who now have him in their waste bin
Why should voters trust you
When those who know you well will not?
A danger to our republic, they say
And their warnings should give us thought
Donald calmly answered
Saying in his first term he was too nice
And those who will not support him now
Won't do so well, if he's elected twice
The reporter came away from the interviews
With the image of a man
Set on an imperial presidency
As the way of governing our fair land
He would withhold funds appropriated by Congress
And fire those who don't follow orders to prosecute
He would free those who attacked the Capitol
So their convictions would then be moot
He would gut the U.S. civil service
Deploy the National Guard where he sees fit
Now, all of this might be fine with you
But with me, it's not a whit
The prospect of Trump 2.0
The reporter goes on to say
Could be revolutionary
Democracy could go away

Hamas Still has not been Condemned by an the General Assembly
To this day, the U.N.'s top bodies, the General Assembly and the Security Council, have not issued formal condemnations of Hamas for the Oct. 7 attack on Israel, nor, I believe, for the savage practice of using civilians as human shields while hiding in the catacombs underneath such places as hospitals and even the U.N. offices, themselves.
Hamas has purportedly killed, raped, mutilated and tortured Israeli babies, children, women and elderly. Purportedly, allegedly and supposedly -- but also very probably: pictures exist of some of the atrocities.
But do not be too sweeping in your condemnation of the U.N. for its failure to condemn Hamas. At least two leading officers have clearly condemned Hamas. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned Hamas for unleashing "relentless death and destruction" on Gaza. The U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk, likewise, has condemned "the horrifying mass killings by members of Palestinian armed groups." He specifically noted the abduction of hostages is a violation of international law.
While we should be grateful for the individual condemnations by Guterres and Volker, pressure should continue to be exerted on the General Assembly and the Security Council. The Hamas attack has unleashed on the world a most-serious wave of violence and hatred. The urgency for condemnation from the U.N. is increasing as protests one-sidedly condemn Israel while not holding Hamas accountable. Voices like those of the U.N. should reach out to the protestors, giving them cause to consider that they should not want to give the impression they are endorsing the actions of Hamas or Palestinian militants.
When Hamas and the Palestinians try to hide behind history, suggesting Israel's crimes prompted them to attack, we should not take the bait. We should not fall for such an excuse. Hatred will never end if it is justified. There will be no end if we do not say, Regardless of the past, it must end now. You cannot excuse your current atrocities by pointing to the past. We must not fall for such a ruse.

Same Vein
The National Enquirer filled a purpose for him
Donald Trump used it to spread his propaganda
Who cares if it even had a sniff of the truth
Who cares if it even had that aroma
Now Fox News steps up and fills the same role
The oracle of his campaign
And Fox News might tell you they're different
But they're not; they're in the same vein
Vulture Circling the Sky
Crows line the fences
Vultures hang in the skies
Coyotes roam the desert
In the land of the moonrise
Winds sweep the valleys
Rivers wash the gorge
Everything is ominous
As it awaits the coming purge
Emptying the swamp
That's what he likes to say
But hidden behind the verbiage
He takes democracy away
Fascinate the Fools
"First, they fascinate the fools, then they muzzle the intelligent"
Bertrand Russell warned us of that
Even so, they once fascinated us with conspiracy theories
And today they muzzle intelligent news sources
What do you think of that?
"This technique is as old as the hills"
Bertrand Russell said
They use "emotional excitement on one hand
and terrorism on the other"
Well, look what's happening at our border
It is playing out just like he said
Like Outlaws
A sign
A sign to come
A sign of freedom lost
You jail the press
You shut them down
And what will be the cost?
Coverage of the protests?
Coverage of the news?
When you don't allow the media
And you don't allow their crews?
The day will come
If we walk this path
Walk it far enough
Government will decide what news is news
And which reporters get handcuffed
There lies a head just such a soul
Who would be our president
He would love to arrest the "lying" press
He won't be hesitant
We only hasten Satan's work
We only help his cause
When we see the press at student protests
And treat them like outlaws
