Freedom does not exact conformity of its own
Freedom does not exact conformity of those who land upon its shores. And, that nation that thinks it does, lessens the liberty it offers. It does not say, Speak only my language -- speak only English. No, freedom know no single language; It speaks in any tongue.
When you call on others to be like you, you issue not the call of freedom.
Laws must be established to preserve freedom. But, when you start making laws and rules just to force people to be like you, you make a mistake. We would have them assimilate? We would require them to assimilate? We would suggest they should leave the traditions of the fathers behind?
Forcing people to forget their legacy because you see it as a threat to your own, is not the welcoming arms of freedom. Freedom does not say, Spurn the flag of your homeland, for allegiance must be mine. It does not say, Swear off allegiance and appreciation and respect for your home country, or else I will not have you. It is not jealous of other nations, but open to respecting them.
