The gun comes in the company of hate
This is not always so, but more often than you think. There will be those who shoot not because they despise the other person, but only because they must defend themselves and their friends.
But, too often, the target shot is a target despised.
We hate the criminal, the house intruder, the rapist and such. I can understand this. But, I would think it better if we didn't. I would think it better if we single-mindedly sought only defense -- with no malice at all for those we had to shoot.
Some can limit their hate to the rapist and intruder and house thief. Other know no such bounds, and their hate spreads further. If they think someone is not worthy of love, they might come to think the world not worthy of love. I do not know but what mass murderers get their start in the hatred of one, and that hatred grows to become hatred toward the world they live in.
Bless those who purchase the gun with no malice in their hearts. I would guess them the better part of all gun owners. But, there will be others. Many the gun buyer whose rage rules his heart.
