If You Can't be the World's Policeman all the Time, Maybe at Least Help the Kurds

The U.S. cannot be the world's policeman, it is said.
We have the UN, and we have NATO. We do have other options, rather than going it alone in protecting all the world's nations needing help. How could we ever take care of them all -- save them all -- anyway?
Answer: I would suggest if you were walking down the street, and saw someone being assaulted, and you were in position to help, you probably ought to. Calling the police would be the right thing to do, but sometimes those situations are such that you can intervene.
And, when you can help, you should.
I don't know how many wars we can or cannot afford. I do believe we ought to fight for freedom and against human suffering at times. I think of the story of the person walking down a beach, tossing starfish back in, to save them from drying and dying. Someone stops him, and laughs at him, and suggests he can't save them all, and if really isn't going to make a difference. He picks up another, and tosses it back into the sea, and says, "It made a difference to that one."
I guess I believe the Kurds are among situations where we should try to make a difference.
