Let Us as a Nation be Equal to the Impeachment Test

If America could be great. If it could take the impeachment inquiry, and be honest about it. If it could look for truth in all these matters.
What has happened? Did Joe Biden try to get the prosecutor fired who was looking into corruption against his son's Ukrainian company? What would be so wrong with looking into this? Yes, the House is investigating Trump, not Biden, but this matter belongs in the same investigation. If you want all truth, and not just that which convicts Republicans (Trump), then look into this.
Did President Trump break the law, by asking a foreign nation to investigate Biden? I understand it is a campaign violation to ask for "a thing of value" from foreign nationals in relation to a campaign. It is argued the Ukrainians would have had to spend money to investigate Biden, so that would be a thing of value. I do not know on this matter; I find myself more concerned with bribery.
As to bribery, Trump's people contend there was no quid-pro-quo. He didn't say, If you investigate, I will give you the warheads you want. Let's make this a deal on this.
I have about as much problem even if it weren't quid-pro-quo. If it the conversation is couched in such a way that it is implied that if you help bring down Biden, then you will get the military aid you need, yes, I have a problem with that. Bribery is bribery, and perhaps only the more sinister if you seek to cloak it. Dangling money in exchange for the investigation remains bribery, even if it isn't "quid-pro-quo."
I would we lived in an America where we could face the facts. Do we? Can we? I would we lived in a nation that would search for justice and truth. Let us say, That which is wrong, we will not endorse. If Biden did try to fire the prosecutor, that is wrong. Let us look. Let us investigate. If it is not true, then exonerate him of a lie. But, if he is guilty . . .
I would we would hold Trump to a standard of integrity. If he was dangling foreign aid in exchange for an investigation against a political opponent, of course that is wrong. Whether you impeach and remove him from office or not, you do not condone such action. You do censure it, and you censure him.
America is on trial at this moment as much as anything. What are our standards? Do we throw them out the window for politics? Let us not. Let us say, Wrong is wrong, and we will not stand by it. Ask us not to condone actions that are wrong, because we won't.
Ours can be a great nation. But we have to be willing to recognize wrong when we see it. Let us stand for that which is right, even when it comes to politics. Let us take this moment of national crisis -- this moment that measures our mettle -- and let us be equal to the test.
