I discovered George Orwell, the master of quote, tonight. Off top, I am not sure there is anyone out there with more thought-provoking quotes.
"Men can only be happy when they do not assume that the object of life is happiness."
"To see what is in front of one's nose needs a constant struggle."
"In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act."
Quote after quote after quote of beautiful thoughts.
As I read them, I wonder if great quotes should be a school topic. They contain wisdom. They cause you to think. They contain morals and teach morals (or can, if you pick the right ones). Reading, writing, arithmetic, science . . . and quotations.
Off top, I think it would be a wonderful school topic.
