We have a principle in the United States: Innocent until proven guilty. We are setting it aside in so much of our discussion of election irregularities. We hear Trump's accusations, and accept them with nothing more needed. We don't call them up, one-after-another, to discover if they are true. We don't give them trial. We convict without even hearing the facts. Such makes for a one-witness court: If Trump says it, no other witnesses are necessary.
Indeed, we bar other witnesses. We say the fact-checkers, the main media, and the courts are not to be trusted, so we bar them from any trial in our minds. Who is left? If the only those witnesses who speak for your side are allowed, what system of justice is left?
Those who believe the election was fraudulent believe so even though the courts have thrown out the cases. Now, we have had a system in America: When charges were made, we had courts to adjudicate them. A person didn't simply make a charge against someone and on his or her word alone, conviction was granted. But, that is what is happening. Trump is making the accusations, and we are not allowing the courts to be the judges of what is truth. We believe Trump before we believe the courts.
The very foundations of our nation are being shaken. We were built on a free press. We were built on the principle of innocent until proven guilty. We were built on a system of court law. Trump comes along destroying our confidence in these pillars. He persuades us not to trust them, and to trust solely him. Yes, never so dangerous a president, never one who has so endangered our land.
