America went broke that year,
no money to pay the bills.
It looked into its wallet—
it was so empty, it gave you chills.

It looked for someone to borrow from,
but this time, no one was there.
No one to bail out the foolish nation,
no one would even dare.

And the nation that thought itself invincible,
the nation no one thought could fall—
that nation went bankrupt,
