After decades of other shootings failed to bring legislation to curb the shootings, the Uvalde shooting is bringing change. Millions of dollars for mental health, school safety, and intervention.
But, as notable as the legislation is, it might end up not significantly curbing the shootings. No guns are being taken from those who threaten to kill. No federal age limit is set, despite many of the shooters being young. There is no ban on the use of assault weapons.
Lookiing at what is being done, we can conclude the legislation is but a way to appease the public, just a way of saying, "Look, we're doing something."
