The Las Vegas Raiders have no immediate need to sign Colin Kaepernick. Training camp is yet six weeks away. The regular season doesn't open until Sept. 11 against the San Diego Chargers. You know the Kap will be working out, getting in better shape on his own. Let the Raiders consider their options. Maybe they will decide against signing Kaepernick.
If the Raiders do sign the Kap, he will be Derek Carr's backup. Carr is a solid quarterback, completing 65 percent of his passes. He led the Raiders to an 10-7 record last season. It would take Kaepernick playing to the level he played early in his career for him to take away the starting job from Carr.
