Something I'd Like to Say

I have a thought I'd like to share
Just something I'd like to say
So, if you wouldn't mind and if you will
Sit down and listen to me today

I want to tell you about our country
The one George Washington battled for
The one that Abraham Lincoln championed
In the days of the Civil War

America, we call it
And in America waves the flag
It is the flag of freedom
For we've always worn that tag

From the days of Washington
And from the days of Lincoln
Our land has always been the land of the free
But if we're not careful
And if we're not mindful
We'll lose that liberty

The day is upon us
The day has come
When freedom could leave us
With the setting sun

So, be mindful
Be careful
Be vigilant, please
We can hold on to our freedom
But it won't be with ease
