Efforts for Online Voting Should be Accompanied by Efforts to Educate

Perhaps the value of online voting should be measured by whether it encourages someone to vote without having studied. And, I wonder if it does just that. If you make it easier for them to vote, and prod them to vote, even though they know nothing about the candidates, they say, Okay, if it is that easy, I'll do it.
Getting voters to vote doesn't mean much if they don't know what they are voting for. You might as well give them all a stick of bubble gum and ask them to blow a bubble when they get to the polls. That is as meaningful as having them look down a list of candidates they know nothing about. If they aren't informed, it's just an exercise.
Online voting? Making it easier to vote doesn't mean much if you are just getting them to do the exercise. But a few of my friends at a group called Represent Me Utah suggested there is an answer. They suggest links to the candidates. So, a person could click on a link and up would pop the candidate's statement? I like that. I think the effort to make voting easier via online voting should be accompanied by an effort to make voters more educated, and the links do just that.
