Just Some of the News About the Russian-Ukrainian Situation

This is just some of news of the the Russin invasion of Ukraine:

Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill asked Vladimr Putin to destroy Ukraine. "We see (Ukraine) as a threat.. We have the right to use force to see that the threat is eradicated," Kirill said.

A "Voices for Ukraine" benefit concert was held in Salt Lake City Monday (yesterday) to raise money for the refugees.

Evan Neumann, who has been charged in the Capitol Riot, has been granted asylum in Belarus. The Daily Beast reported that he is cozing up to Putin. "I don't understand why Russia is our enemy," he said.  

Wildfires are burning around Chernobyl, likely sparked by artillery shelling or arson.

Shades of Snoopy and the Red Baron. Despite being vastly outnumbered by Russia, Ukrainian fighter pilots are holding off Russia in the air. The New York Times reports that, "Top Gun-style aerial dogfights, rare in modern warfare, are now raging above the country," 

The U.S. announced Wednesday (today) that it will give Ukraine $800 million more in Military Aid. That brings the total to $1 billion. 

Ukraine is mounting a counteroffensive to protect Kyiv and other key cities.

The Washington Post reports that Russians have fled to Armenia. 

Italian lawmakers boycotted Volodymyr Zelenskyy's address because they felt it was unfair to Putin. Italy is dependent on Russian oil. Reports the Daily Beast: "Few will forget how former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi bedded a call girl on a frilly bed the Russian leader gave him, or how Putin’s late night visits to Berlusconi’s 'bunga bunga' villa near Milan made the society pages." 

Putin has ordered the arrest of two senior security officers for supplying flawed intelligence and improper use of funds. In addition, several generals have been fired. 

A journalist working for a French radio station in Ukraine was kidnapped and tortured by the Russians earlier this month. 

Poland says Russia should be removed from the G20. The G20 is a group of nations who deal with the environment and other matters.

A Daily Beast headline: "Deadbeat Dads and Ex-Cons Rounded up to fight by Desperate Putin."

Fox News: "Rival of Zelenskyy helping supply Ukrainian forces amid Putin's war."

Headline on a story in the Insider: "Kremlin spokesperson says Putin would use nuclear weapons in face of 'extential threat'."

"Some are calling for Arkady Devorkovich, a former deputy prime minister in Russia, to resign from from being president of FIDE (the International Chess Federation). 

Ukraine has destroyed 10 percent of Russia's tanks.
