Look at what brain-washing is, what hypnosis is. Part of it is that you lock them out from listening to anyone but you. Notice, if you will, then, how the far right is taught to not listen to the mass media, and to not listen to fact-checkers, but to trust and listen to only the right-wing media.
Adolf Hitler studied covert mass hypnosis -- and practiced it. Says a website (naturalhypnosis.com): "His delivery was confident and ultra-positive, suggesting that everything he said was truth and right." That is certainly a fit description of Donald Trump, and of his delivery.
The website speaks of other techniques a good speaker uses. "Eventually, even the biggest crowd will lose touch with rational thinking," it says. It notes the people even reach a point of worship. Now, it would be hard to argue that Donald Trump doesn't have more worshipful followers than perhaps any other political figure in the world.
Convince them the mass media is their enemy. Decry the fact-checkers, so they will not listen to any voices that would break their trance. Your message and your message, alone, is all you want them to listen to. Use unequivocal language when you speak. This is the art not only of Trump, but of the right-wing media. They speak of the election being stolen as if no one can possibly deny it. It is simply a matter beyond any question. Only a fool would not believe them.

We should not be surprised to see the works of mass mind control being among us. If Hitler studied it, others were bound to. Propaganda is science to those who would destroy a free nation such as America.
